Survival on the reef

On a spring night, a spawning of coral takes place on the largest coral reef in the world - the Great Barrier Reef off the north-eastern coast of Australia. The reef plays host to the greatest diversity of plant and animal life found in any part of the sea. But limited resources have led to a constant struggle for many of the sea creatures who employ fascinating techniques to survive - camouflage, armour, spines, and even relationships with unrelated species form a diverse defence system.
