"Inspired by historical accounts of the Ingles and Draper families, Mary Draper Ingles is captured by Shawnee warriors in 1755 along with her sons and sister-in-law near Horseshoe Bend on West Virginia's New River. Mary ended up deep in what is now the state of Ohio at a Shawnee encampment. Mary and another captive, Mrs. Stump, decided to escape and, with just a tomahawk, blankets and a little food, managed to make the 800 mile journey back to Mary's home in 43 days."
