Elegy and iambus, being the ramains of all the Greek elegiac and iambic poets from Callinus to Crates, excepting the choliambic writers, with the Anacreontea

Part II. Iambic Poetry. Archilochus (sixth century B.C.), famous composer of elegies, hymns, etc. -- more than 200 fragments, some substantial. (We include the remarkable 'Archilochus Monument' and the work done on the text by Edmonds). Semonides of Amorgos -- more than 40 fragments (one is a poem of 118 lines); Hermippus, Scythinus. Part III. Anonymous poetry (epigraphic) in hexameters, elegiacs, iambics, trochaics. The poems ('Anacretontea') connected with Anacreon of the sixth century B.C. (Lyra Graeca, Vol II, Loeb 143) but belonging to later times. These are at least 60 in number, simple and charming.
