A beginner's introduction to using JewishGen's most popular databases: the JewishGen Family Finder (JGFF), JewishGen ShtetlSeeker; the Family Tree of the Jewish People (FTJP), and JewishGen Discussion Group message archives. This session will take you step-by-step through the process of using JewishGen's internet databases: how to search the databases, and how to add your own data. This presentation is an interactive computer slide presentation, containing instructional slides, as well as live demonstrations with audience participation. Topics included: The JGFF contains information on over 300,000 ancestral towns and surnames ; The JewishGen ShtetlSeeker pinpoints the locations of over 500,000 East European localities ; JewishGen's online FTJP consists of linked family trees containing over two million individuals ; The Discussion Group message archives contain the full text of over 100,000 messages posted to the JewishGen Discussion Group since 1993.
