A very active retiree, he continues to perform many ministerial duties along with writing, traveling, and attending meetings related to Temperance, Freedmen's aid, and Women's rights. He maintains a large correspondence, continues to write about the anti-slavery movement, and is president of the Syracuse Board of Education. He attends his class reunion at Harvard.
