Der kleine Lump Kufalt strampelt sich ab, noch in seinen schlimmsten Viechereien schimmert eine Goldader Menschentum ..., aber doch, aber doch, unentrinnbar, gegen seinen Willen, ohne seinen Willen, wird er das, was die Umwelt will, dass er es wird: ein bisschen Kot, eine Mikrobe, bösartig, die man vernichten muss." Hans Fallada im Exposé zum Roman (1932) RUDOLF DITZEN alias HANS FALLADA (1893-1947), zwischen 1915 und 1925 Rendant auf Rittergütern, Hofinspektor, Buchhalter, zwischen 1928 und 1931 Adressenschreiber, Annoncensammler, Verlagsangestellter, 1920 Roman-Debüt mit 'Der junge Goedeschal'. Der vielfach übersetzte Roman 'Kleiner Mann - was nun?' (1932) machte Fallada weltberühmt. Sein letztes Buch, 'Jeder stirbt für sich allein' (1947), avancierte rund sechzig Jahre nach Erscheinen zum internationalen Bestseller.
