"Hinter der pastellfarbenen Fassade der amerikanischen Vorstadthäuser an der "Revolutionary Road" lebt das junge Ehepaar Wheeler genau das Leben, das es niemals gewollt hat: zwei Kinder, die einfältigen Nachbarn, Franks sinnentleerte Tätigkeit in einem Grossraumbüro. Richard Yates wurde 1926 in Yonkers, New York, geboren und lebte bis zu seinem Tod 1992 in Alabama. Obwohl seine Werke zu Lebzeiten kaum Beachtung fanden, gehören sie heute zum Wichtigsten, was die amerikanische Literatur des 20. Jahrhunderts zu bieten hat. Wie Ernest Hemingway prägte Richard Yates eine Generation von Schriftstellern. Die DVA publiziert Yates' Gesamtwerk auf Deutsch, zuletzt erschien der Roman 'Eine gute Schule'. Das Debüt 'Zeiten des Aufruhrs' wurde 2009 mit Leonardo DiCaprio und Kate Winslet in den Hauptrollen von Regisseur Sam Mendes verfilmt."
