  • "Lucy Fletcher Kellogg's memoir (photocopy of a typescript) was written in 1879 when she was eighty-six years old. Mrs. Kellogg referred to her early life in Sutton and Worcester, and to the small business venture that she (at age 13) and her siblings operated to earn extra cash during the War of 1812, i.e., weaving cotton yarn from the new Massachusetts factories into shirting, gingham, and bed ticking. She also related several anecdotes concerning events during her early life, e.g., the death of George Washington in 1799."
