  • "A petty criminal becomes inadvertently involved with communist agents when he steals some microfilm from a woman's handbag. The political (spy thriller) aspects of the plot seem largely subsumed by the gangster/crime film elements, the noirish lighting of sets and New York locations and the sense of violent energy generated by Fuller's unique mixture of rapid tracking shots and jagged close-ups. However, Fuller is able to integrate these elements, cutting across generic boundaries to bring out his own notions of underground patriotism."@en
