In the meantime his wife, whose sexual exploitation stands for the whole process of class oppression, has come to half accept her fate. While the Zamindar is something of a traditional villain there is a hint of irony in the title. By the film's climax the villagers have become a mob. Nishant is very much a companion to Benegal's first feature Ankur."
