"This screwball comedy was the Coen brothers' follow up to their debut film 'Blood Simple' (1984). Hi, a dim-witted small-time criminal falls in love with Edwina, the police officer who takes his mugshots each time he is arrested. After settling down in a trailer in the Arizona desert the couple attempts to start a family but much to Edwina's distress are unable to conceive. They hatch a solution to their problem which involves stealing one of the famous Arizona quintuplets, the children of a well known furniture salesman. Their attempts at setting up 'family unit' run into difficulties when Hi's convict friends seek him out after escaping from jail. Combining influences from Tex Avery cartoons to contemporary horror movies to 1940s B-movies, the film's delirious excesses and comic quirks set the precedent for what subsequently became the Coen brothers' trademark style."@en
