The Lumière Brothers' first films

Thierry Fremaux, Director of the Institut Lumiére, edited this collection and may be heard commenting on the films (in French) on an alternate audio channel. The primary audio channel features narration in English by Bertrand Tavernier, who in addition to being one of France's leading directors, is also President of the Institut Lumiére and its most visible champion. This DVD provides a look at the art involved in early filmmaking, 85 complete works of the Lumiére Brothers presented by the Lumiére Brothers' Association and the Archives du Film du Centre National de la Cinématographie.
