"Disc 1, Beverly Blossom discusses her childhood in Chicago and attending her first dance performance of the Martha Graham Dance Company, how she met Alwin Nikolais and started dancing at the Henry Street Playhouse, the importance of having a work space and environment at the Henry Street Settlement, learning to perform through the children's programs, what was involved with the children's programs leading to the creation of the Mask, props, and mobiles piece. Disc 2, Beverly Blossom discusses the professional work developed through the choreography classes and by Alwin Nikolais beginning with Village of whispers, creating Nikolais' choreographic work Noumenon, creating her solo piece Drool figure, dancing with Nikolais from 1951-1963, performing her own work in the East Village, receiving a Fullbright grant and studying in West Berlin at the Mary Wigman school, teaching at the Univ. of Illinois, her two signature pieces Black traveler and Dad's ties along with Besame Mucho, the importance of music selection for her work, the principle components of her work, the last dance she created at the Univ. of Illinois in 1989 entitled A "different" swan song, the creation of 9 points in time while in West Berlin, the impact of Alwin Nikolais on her life and seeing his last work Aurora, coming to terms with his death by creating and performing Chards at his memorial, her favorite Nikolais pieces including Totem and Noumenon, the next phase for modern dance and the current economic problems, and concluding with comments about dance and Alwin Nikolais."
