Spirit rider

Jesse Threebears, is a sixteen-year-old Ojibway boy returned to his reserve by the band council against his will as part of a native repatriation program. Shunted from one foster home to another for the past twelve years, Jesse has lost touch with his roots. Upon his return to the reserve, he is critical of everything--especially his grandfather, Joe. But soon Jesse begins to feel a sense of belonging. He and Joe capture and train a wild horse that Jesse enters in a race with a $5000 first prize. Jesse also finds a girlfriend, Camilla, who helps him learn to ride. But threatening to undo it all is a hidden, painful truth.
