Feature film from Tunisia. Drama concerning an extended family on the island of Djerba whose menfolk are away working in Tunis for eleven months of the year. Aicha, wife of the eldest son, feels confined by the domination of her mother-in-law and by the traditional Islamic morality and rigid social mores.
"Aïcha a épousé Saïd à l'âge de 18 ans. Mais, comme ses frères, Saïd travaille onze mois par an à Tunis et laisse sa femme à Djerba sous l'autorité de sa mère. Dès la nuit de noces, Aïcha manifeste le désir de rompre avec la tradition : elle veut le rejoindre à Tunis mais celui-ci refuse. Pour gagner l'argent nécessaire au voyage, Aïcha lui propose de vendre les beaux tapis qu'elle confectionne. Il accepte mais pose une condition : il lui faudra donner naissance à un fils. Aïcha va passer de longues années à attendre la Saison des Hommes en nouant des tapis qui vont non seulement faire la fortune de Saïd mais aussi étouffer son existence. Confrontée aux réprimandes de sa belle-mère, autoritaire et envahissante, Aïcha veut fuir.Avec Rabiaa Ben Abdallah, Sabah Bouzouita, Ghalia Ben Ali, Hend Sabri, Ezzedine Guennoun."
