  • "Simple verses offering elementary Christian instruction, accompanied by primitive woodcut illustrations, each with upper and lower flap that, when lifted or dropped, effect transformation of the pictures."@en
  • ""The work consists of four panels, each with an upper and lower flap allowing the images to transform from one figure to another by various combinations of the flaps being raised and lowered. Each variant image is accompanied by text of four-line verse. ...images include such transformations as Adam changing into Eve, who in turn becomes a mermaid; a lion becoming a griffin, which then changes into an eagle; and the rich man who becomes sick, eventually turning into dust when he dies. The accompanying verse instructs the viewer moving through the images, expanding on the moral underpinnings of the work. The illustrations are from woodblocks engraved by James Poupard..."--Bookseller's notes."@en
