The city, not long after

In an abandoned San Francisco, the city's rebirth is powered by art. A young man strides across the Golden Gate Bridge, roller in hand, painting the famous structure a thousand shades of blue. A woman stands on the edge of the sea, sending messages to far-off lands in corked wine bottles. And a sleeping man dreams of building an angel from the spare parts that are the last remnants of a vanished civilization. A plague has passed through San Francisco, leaving only the artists, eccentrics, and dreamers to build the city anew. But when war threatens to overtake this quiet metropolis, the artists must learn to fight back. The bloodthirsty General Miles wants the city for himself and will destroy all those who stand in his way. To protect their whimsical paradise, the citizens band together in a curious form of guerilla warfare, fighting hate with the favorite weapon of bohemia: an open heart.

  • "Following the Plague that destroyed most the inhabitants of America, the City of San Fransiscoe remains populated by artists, hippies and the like. An army general is on a course to re-unite the once great America and San Fransisco is the city next in line on his agenda - but the artists resist, not by military confrontation - but by 'fighting with their art and creativity. The characters are so alive and energetic - the story is chilling. An original and fascinating story with a poetic and mythological feel. If you live in San Francisco you must read this. If you don't live here it'll make you wish you did."
  • "The city is San Francisco. The not long after refers to a devastating worldwide plague that has wiped out most of the planet's population. The people who survive in San Francisco are mostly artists, hippies, and misfits who pull together a viable community and transform the city. But when a military general determines to reunite the remnants of the once great United States and sets his sights on San Francisco, the people resist, figuring they have already discovered a better way of life, and stage an artistically creative kind of guerrilla warfare that becomes one of the oddest battles ever fought."
