Patrice Lumumba was the Congo's first elected Prime Minister after independence from Belgium. But the Belgians didn't like his leftist-nationalistic and pan-African stand. They organised an armed insurrection in the province of Katanga and installed a rival government led by Moishe Tshombe. Traces the events leading up to Lumumba's execution which secured the interests of America, Belgium and multinational mining companies.
