Seward Forest Papers

Papers of Seward Forest document the daily operation of the Forest and include information on personnel, lumber sales and sawmill operations. Directors Alfred Akerman and Guy Estes are principal correspondents. The effects of the Depression and World War II are documented by correspondence concerning employment, rationing, effect of the draft and wartime government regulations. Of interest is the World War II correspondence of Akerman and crewmember Ervin H. Wright with the 29th Inrfantry Division, later killed in action in Normandy on D-Day. Photographs of the forest and personnel are also included.
