"A partir de las publicaciones hechas en 1983 por Warren y Marshall en las que se confirma una fuerte asociacion entre una bacteria denominada campylobacter pylori (CP) y la dispepsia ulcerosa y no ulcerosa, diferentes autores vienen trabajando sobre el tema; se ha logrado confirmar esta asociacion y se esta estudiando el posible papel etiologico del campylobacter en estas entidades. Buscando confirmar la asociacion realizamos un estudio de casos y controles; con una muestra total de 68 pacientes que se dividieron en 30 casos conformados por pacientes con hallazgos histopatologicos de gastritis y 38 controles con endoscopia e histopatologia normal, estos ultimos se subdividieron en 20 con sintomatologia dispectica y 18 sanos asintomaticos. A todos se les practico endoscopia y biopsias del antro gastrico a las cuales se le realizo coloracion de hematoxilina-eosina, coloracion de Gimenez para visulizar CP, cultivo en medio de agar cerebro y test de ureasa. Concluimos que existe asociacion entre CP y dispepsia ulcerosa y no ulcerosa con un riesgo relativo mayor de 5 de gastritis asociada con CP. Encontramos tambien que en nuestro medio el mejor examen para detectar campylobacter puede ser la coloracion de Gimenez modificada."@es
