"Conocer si el dejar abierto el peritoneo visceral y parietal durante la cesarea, esta en relacion con un incremento en las complicaciones intra-operatorias o en el postoperatorio inmediato. Hospitales privados Policlinica Las Mercedes, Clinica Santa Sofia y Centro Medico Quirurgico del Sur, Caracas, Venezuela. prospectivo descriptivo controlado de 5 anos de duracion, de 200 pacientes a quienes se les practico cesarea segmentaria sin suturar ambos peritoneos y un grupo control de 100 pacientes a quienes si se les suturo. Intraoperatoriamente en el grupo del no cierre hubo: reduccion en 8 minutos del tiempo operatorio, disminucion del numero de suturas y no fue necesario el empleo de narcoticos para calmar el dolor y/o las nauseas que se presentaron en el 30 por ciento de las pacientes a quienes se les suturo el peritoneo. No hubo complicaciones en el postoperatorio inmediato y mediato en ambos grupos. No cerrar el peritoneo visceral y parietal durante la cesarea segmentaria no afecta el postoperatorio inmediato y mediato. Solo faltaria por investigar, a largo plazo, si existen diferencias entre estos dos grupos en lo que adherencias intra-abdominales se refiere(AU)."@es
