"Las metastasis oseas constituyen el tumor oseo mas frecuente y su incidencia ha aumentado por la mayor tasa de sobrevida de los enfermos con cancer. Las metastasis mas frecuentes en mujeres son secundarias a cancer de mama y en hombres a cancer de prostata. Su estudio requiere un conocimiento detallado de los patrones anatomo-patologicos con que se presentan, las vias de diseminacion y sus manifestaciones en las diferentes modalidades de estudio por imagenes, destacando entre estas, los avances de la resonancia magnetica en su deteccion y caracterizacion. Se propone un algoritmo de estudio que comienza por la cintigrafia y que en algunos casos puede concluir con una biopsia osea (AU)."@es
