Ancestry of Edward Wales Blake and Clarissa Matilda Glidden : with ninety allied families

Ancestral families, relatives, and descendants of Edward Wales and Clarissa Glidden Blake. Edward Wales Blake (1820-1888) was born at Brookfield, Vermont, the son of Joseph Blake (1785-1865) and Prudence Shepard Blake (1786-1828). Edward studied dentistry and practiced at Bristol, Litchifeld, and Waterbury, Connecticut. He married Lydia Downing (1820-1852) in 1844 at Brookfield, Vermont. They had three children, 1846-1850. He married 2) Clarissa Matilda Glidden Rogers, a widow, in 1858 at Randolph, Vermont. They had two children, 1860-1862. Edward Blake and his brother, Amos Blake, also a dentist, were inventors and partners in manufacturing some of them, becoming wealthy men. He died at Waterbury, Connecticut. Clarissa Matila Glidden (1820-1874) was born at Claremont, New Hampshire, the daughter of Samuel Glidden (ca. 1786-1856) and Lucinda Goss Glidden (1794-1830). She married 1) Isaac Rogers in 1844. They had one daughter born in 1846. She married 2) Edward Wales Blake after his death. She died at Waterbury, Connecticut. Descendants listed lived in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, California, and elsewhere.
