"Estudios de las 100 primeras biopsias cerebrales por estereotaxia realizadas en pacientes con procesos expansivos intracraneanos en el Instituto de Enfermedades Neoplasicas (INEN) de abril 1997 a julio 1999. 51 biopsias correspondieron a varones y 49 mujeres; entre 1-77 anos de edad. Las biopsias correspondieron a lesiones de los diferentes lobulos cerebrales y de estructuras profundas y en menor grado del tronco cerebral y el cerebelo. 63 biopsias correspondieron a neoplasias, predominando el grupo astrocitoma-glioblastoma (80.9 por ciento); 25 a procesos inflamatorios cronicos, de los cuales 14(56 por ciento) tuvieron comprobacion clinica de tuberculoma. 2 Biopsias correspondieron a procesos isquemicos; 8 biopsias fueron no contributorias para diagnostico y 2 fueron insuficientes. La morbilidad del procedimiento consistio en 3 casos, todos de grado menor. (AU)."@es
