What's sex got to do with it? : diversity in the legal profession

"This article explores the nation's first discrimination case to go to trial against a law firm or any professional partnership. The lawsuit provoked substantial and widely publicized controversy. To a coalition of fifty-five women's rights and civil rights organizations that filed an amicus curiae brief, this was a classic case of a glass ceiling for women in the profession. To many bar leaders, as well as the federal appellate panel that reversed a judgment for the plaintiff, this was a textbook illustration of an unjustified sex discrimination claim. Through interviews with all the major participants and an extensive review of trial transcripts and public commentary, the article offers a window on crucial issues of legal ethics, trial advocacy, employment discrimination doctrine, and diversity in the profession"--Page [1].
