Energy consideration in transportation design, construction and operation
Committee A2H04 of the Transportation Research Board is involved with energy considerations in the design and construction of transportation facilities. To determine the extent and nature of current programs underway by state transportation agencies, a questionnaire was developed by the committee and circulated by TRB. The questionnaire was suubmitted to all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Thirty-nine responses were received (a 76 percent return). The questionnaire addressed the following major topics: 1. Energy Policy; 2. Value Engineering; 3. Quality Assurance or Performance Specifications; 4. Recycling; 5. Operations for Conserving Energy.
