Motivating the congregation for social ministry

Originally written in Spanish, this thesis concerns itself with the problem of motivation for the undertaking of a Social Ministry project in the congregation of Reconciliation Lutheran Church in Levittown, Puerto Rico. The congregation is already aware of needs and the congregational council has given its approval to the development of a ministry activity. This thesis project deals with affective and spiritual factors. The church is called to be a servant to the neighbor. In imitation of Christ, the church raises its conciousness in order to be able to carry out works which testify to God's Shalom. Through the use of spiritual exercises and social analysis it is hoped that the congregational leaders would find the energy that would thrust them into a Social Ministry project in Palo Seco Puerto Rico. Esta tesis se dirige a1 problema de la motivaci6n para dedicarse a un proyecto de ministerio social en la congregacion de la Iglesia Luterana Reconciliacibn de Levittown, Puerto Rico. Los elementos de conocimiento de necesidades y el visto bueno del Consejo Parroquial ya se han logrado. Este trabajo pretende dirigirse a1 elemento afectivo y espiritual. La iglesia esta llamada a ser sierva al prjimo. Imitando a Cristo la iglesia se conscientiza para poder realizar obras de misericordia que testifican a1 Shalom de Dios. A traves de ejercicios de la espiritualidad y del analisis social, se espera que 10s lideres de la congregacibn puedan encontrar la energia para impulsar un proyecto de ministerio social en Palo Seco, Puerto Rico.
