Lonely among us, Stardate: 41249.3. While transporting two adversary civilizations to a conference on the planet of Parliament, the Enterprise passes through a "cloud" containing a series of complex energy patterns. Immediately, strange things begin to happen, and the Enterprise crew finds itself trying to solve the mystery surrounding the bizarre death of Chief Engineer Singh. As they explore, Lt. Worf and Dr. Crusher begin behaving strangely. Suddenly, the deadly force that invaded them takes over the mind of Captain Picard, and their leader as they know him is gone. Can the crew, with Riker in command, fight off this hostile force that threatens to destroy Picard and the Enterprise?
