Little girl lost

This is a portrait of Joanne Shaver, a troubled teenager who met a violent death at the age of seventeen. Having been involved in a life of drugs and prostitution, she was just beginning to turn herself around. Then, locked out of her group home for an infraction of the curfew, she reverted to the streets where she was murdered. The video interviews her parents, her peers and her counselors in an attempt to examine where society failed her.

  • "Joanne Shaver was a troubled teenager who met an untimely death. From a normal, loving home she ran away to the streets of Calgary. This compassionate and articulate account of her life, which ended tragically in murder, explores the "kid out of control" and, as a case study, shows the alienation of a young person, which happens all too frequently."
