Praying for rain

Documentary of the 1992 drought in Zimbabwe, Africa. Shows how the first African country to avoid starvation during an drought survived without a lot of outside help. It was filmed mainly in the rural areas and looks at some of the methods used to feed the population. Wildlife herds were culled to provide much needed protein for the starving people. The government provided 85 percent of the relief food after a riot. A water pipeline project also became very important.
