Seven brides for Uncle Sam

This documentary is the story of seven Newfoundland women who married American servicemen. Some of the largest American military bases were located outside the United States, and from the beginning of the Second World War to the end of the Cold War as many as 40,000 Newfoundland women married Americans. The momentous events of world history, depicted in archival films and photographs, that brought men and women together are the backdrop to these stories of romance, heartbreak and joy.
