"The database was designed as an index to a resource, not as a resource itself. It does not contain complete biographical information, or a complete pastoral record. This database is an index to the memoirs printed in the various annual conference journals held by the General Commission on Archives and History of The United Methodist Church. Not only are there memoirs of pastors in these journals, but often their spouses and in some cases lay leaders of the annual conference. The database only contains information up to the 1939 conference journals of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Methodist Protestant Church and the Methodist Episcopal Church, South and prior to 1946 for the Evangelical Church, The United Brethren in Christ and the United Evangelical Church. There are approximately 61,000 name entries. The database gives you the information to determine in what journal, year, and page the memoir appears. You will still need to locate the journal in order to get at the information."@en
