George Hayward (d.1671) immigrated in 1635 from England to Concord, Massachusetts. James Hayward (1750-1775) was a direct descendant in the fifth generation, and never married. His brothers and sisters did married however, and had descendants. Descendants and relatives listed lived chiefly in Massachusetts. Includes a history of the beginning of the Revolutionary War at Concord and Lexington, and also at Acton, Massachusetts (where the militia were under the command of Capt. Isaac Davis). Capt. Davis and Abner Hosmer died at Concord, and in the afternoon of that same day (19 April 1775) James Hayward died at Lexington. Includes a listing of all members of the company commanded by Captain Isaac Davis.
