The Melbourne/Evans incident

In 1962, during SEATO naval exercises in the South China Sea, a collision occurred between the Australian aircraft carrier, HMAS Melbourne, and the American destroyer, USS Frank E. Evans. The Evans was sliced in two, and 74 members of her crew died. This film documents the tragedy, analyses the incident, and provides motivation for safe ship handling and disaster prevention at sea.
