"In the remote 14th-century mining village of Cumbria, England, Connor, a local miner, returns from his journeys abroad, having witnessed the ravages of the Black Death. During his absence, Griffin, his nine-year-old brother, has been tormented by fragmented dreams and prophetic visions which provide the key to the isolated community's survival. Guided by these mystical images, Griffin leads a group of miners on a holy quest through a tunnel to the other side of the world and another time. Reaching the Celestial City, the ragged band must place a cross atop the earth's highest cathedral."

Bewildered by the flashing lights, buildings and cars the six fugitives must battle both technology and time in order to save their village."
