Participation, catch, and harvest in Alaska sport fisheries during 2002
Since 1977, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game has conducted an annual mail survey to estimate sport fishing participation and harvests (fish kept) statewide by Alaska fisheries, areas, regions, and species. Since 1990, catches (fish harvested plus fish released) have also been estimated. Detailed findings are presented for 2002. In 2002, an estimated 422,192 anglers fished 2,259,091 days and kept 3,216,432 of 7,533,175 fish caught.
