The extent of the documentation for each case varies from less than an inch to two feet of materials. Forms of materials include: tally sheets of certiorari votes; bench memoranda prepared by clerks; bench notes from the hearing of oral arguments; correspondence notes; inter-chamber correspondence; drafts of opinions; preliminary printed opinions; and printed "slip" opinions. News clippings have sometimes been added to the files.
