Exploratory survey for small arctic surfclams on the eastern Scotian Shelf
Describes an exploratory survey conducted to locate concentrations of small commercial-size Arctic surfclams (Mactromeris polynyma, known as Stimpson's surf clam in Atlantic Canada) on the eastern Scotian Shelf. The survey was carried out in March and April 1991 on board a commercial clam vessel. Data are presented on the catch rates and size distribution for Mactromeris polynyma, northern propeller clam (Cyrtodaria siliqua), and ocean quahogs (Arctica islandica), as well as on bycatch composition.
