Oral history interview with Kathleen McKenna

Interview conducted for Voices from the Catholic Worker. Kathleen McKenna discusses her experiences with Haley House in Boston, Mass., and Noonday Farm in Winchendon Springs, Mass. She explains what drew her to the Catholic Worker, obtaining and purchasing the house, the Haley House name, and why it is a men-only shelter. She talks about opening other houses and the farm, the types of guests they have and how that has changed over time, life at the house, and managing the upkeep on multiple houses. She speaks about the work her husband, John, does for and outside the Catholic Worker, the committee and board structure of the house, and how Haley House has or has not strayed from Catholic Worker principles. McKenna also discusses her civil disobedience stance and meeting Dorothy Day. Interviewed by Rosalie Riegle Troester. Interruptions in audio present in original recording.
