Oral history interview with Donald Timmerman
Interview conducted for Voices from the Catholic Worker. Don Timmerman, a former Salvatorian priest, discusses his life, resistance work, and the Casa Maria house in Milwaukee, Wis. He begins the interview by talking briefly about his time as a priest in Kipalapala, Tanzania. He then discusses coming to Casa Maria house and meeting a woman who would later become his wife. He talks about leaving the priesthood, marrying her, starting a family, and eventually divorcing her. He talks about teaching theology part-time to high school students. He explains his resistance work, including his civil disobedience and his tax resistance. Finally he discusses running Casa Maria house, dealing with guests, dealing with Workers, and dealing with limited resources. Interviewed by Rosalie Riegle Troester.
