On the way to Springfield, Missouri, Slocum has to buy a new horse in a town where the local bullies, the Toliver brothers try to maintain a monopoly on horse sales. Unaware of the "town rules" Slocum buys a horse from the Tolliver brothers' competition and has to protect himself and the lovely lady who sold it to him.
