I'm the one that I want

This film captures comedian Margaret Cho at home in San Francisco, in her first appearance at the Warfield Theater. The spine of the show is the appalling true story of her experiences starring in the short-lived ABC sitcom "All-American Girl," the first mainstream television comedy built around an Asian-American family. Although her character was based on herself, the network decided to revamp her appearance and her personality. Her kidneys collapse, her show is canceled, and she begins a descent into booze, pills, and self-loathing. Ms. Cho spins lack of self-esteem into comic gold, and the eventual resurrection of her own voice, her own shape, and satisfaction with being the one she wants.
