The mysterious mesa

Out on the desert plain, Ward Jackson saw something in the shimmering heat haze which drew him like a moth to a flame - a massive monolith. All the while, he remained unaware of the two killers tracking him and the remnants of the small army map-making patrol to the east. Beneath that mighty rock lay a small oasis where, God willing, there would be water. But, high on the mysterious mesa, were Indians watching and waiting. A massacre seemed inevitable. Who would survive?
