Walter Rothschild wurde 1954 im englischen Bradford geboren. Er studierte Theologie und Pädagogik in Cambridge und absolvierte dann das Rabbinerstudium am Leo-Baeck-College in London. Seit seiner Ordination war Walter Rothschild in zahlreichen jüdischen Gemeinden als Rabbiner tätig - u. a. in Grossbritannien, auf Aruba in der südlichen Karibik, in Berlin und Wien. Seit 2001 arbeitet er als freiberuflicher Rabbiner für liberale jüdische Gemeinden in Deutschland und ist Landesrabbiner von Schleswig-Holstein. Daneben ist Walter Rothschild ein viel gefragter Gesprächspartner im christlich-jüdischen Dialog. Der Eisenbahnfan und leidenschaftliche Zugfahrer, der gerade über die Geschichte des Eisenbahnbaus im Nahen Osten promoviert hat, lebt in Berlin."
