"The weekend before Josephson arrived to participate in the Learning From Performers Program, the Harvard Film Archive screened Ingmar Bergman's "Scenes from a Marriage" and Andrei Tarkovsky's "Nostalgia". This served as background for the discussion with Josephson, which focused on "Working with Bergman and Tarkovsky". Since he is a theatre director, producer and writer as well as an actor, he talked brilliantly about Bergman and Tarkovsky, having the perspective of both actor and director. He showed the two directors' vastly different styles and approaches to filmmaking, capturing the sense of the genius of both.
