Miss Lillian Primm is a lady who lives up to her name. When she inherits a half share in what she believes to be a Texas hotel, she takes the opportunity to leave Boston where she had worked as a teacher of young ladies. When she arrives in the town of Fort Floppett, she is shocked to discover that the hotel, the Texas Lily, is actually a very profitable brothel run by the caddish Brad O'Neal, local businessman and legendary ladies' man. The stubborn Miss Primm resolves to turn the Texas Lily into a respectable hotel and the girls who work there into respectable young ladies, much to the chagrin of the men in the town.
