The wind has always dictated Vianne Rocher's every move, buffeting her from the French village of Lansquenet-sous-Tannes to the crowded streets of Paris. Cloaked in a new identity, that of widow Yanne Charbonneau, she opens a chocolaterie on a small Montmartre street, determined to still the wind at last and keep her daughters, Anouk and baby Rosette, safe. But the weather vane soon turns, and Zozie de l'Alba blows into their lives. Charming and enigmatic, Zozie provides the brightness that Yanne's life needs--as her vivacity and bold lollipop shoes dazzle rebellious and impressionable preadolescent Anouk. But beneath their new friend's benevolent fac ade lies a ruthless treachery--for devious, seductive Zozie has plans that will shake their world to pieces.

"'The Lollipop Shoes' is the sequel to 'Chocolat'. It is 5 years later, and Vianne and her daughter Anouk, now known as Yanne and Annie, and accompanied by four-year-old Rosette, are now living in Paris, and again running a chocolaterie. But now Vianne has lost interest in making her own chocolates, and buys in her stock like other shopkeepers do. Much of her spark has gone also, and she is contemplating marriage to her landlord, who can provide for her and her daughters. It seems she may have escaped the restlessness imposed on her by the wind and her mother's spirit. At this point Zozie, a strange witch-like character, with a history of stealing people's identities, moves in on them, and transforms the chocolaterie to something like the one Vianne herself used to run, re-introducing the home-made chocolates and charming the customers just as Vianne herself used to do. Anouk is on the brink of adolescence, resents the change in her mother, and she is bewitched by Zozie. Then, back onto the scene comes Roux, the river gypsy Vianne fell for back in Lansquenet, unaware that he is Rosette's father. Anouk is learning to weave her own magic spells, and there is something very different about Rosette. Can Vianne avoid the danger which lurks in the person of Zozie, the lady with the lollipop shoes, and find her way back to Roux and and end to a way of life dictated to by the wind?"
"Seeking refuge and anonymity in the cobbled streets of Montmartre, Yanne and her daughters, Rosette and Annie, live peacefully, if not happily, above their little chocolate shop. Nothing unusual marks them out; no red sachets hang by the door. The wind has stopped - at least for a while. Then into their lives blows Zozie de l{u2019}Alba, the lady with the lollipop shoes, and everything begins to change. But this new friendship is not what it seems. Ruthless, devious and seductive, Zozie de l{u2019}Alba has plans of her own plans that will shake their world to pieces. And with everything she loves at stake, Yanne must face a difficult choice; to flee, as she has done so many times before, or to confront her most dangerous enemy{u2026}herself."
"Master confectioner and benevolent witch Vianne Rocher trades the quiet life of Lansquenet-sous-Tannes for the crowded streets of Paris. Cloaked in a new identity, that of widow Yanne Charbonneau, she opens a chocolaterie on a small Montmartre street, determined to still the wind at last and keep her daughters, Anouk and the baby, Rosette, safe. But soon the weathervane turns ... and into their lives blows the charming and enigmatic Zozie de l'Alba. And everything begins to change."@en
