The Lusty Lady

The Lusty Lady is a peep-show club in Seattle run by women - ex-dancers who know their trade from the inside. When Erika Langley approached the Lusty Lady's management to ask if she could photograph the dancers, she was told first she'd have to become a naked dancer herself. This book chronicles her five years as an insider through words and photographs that are both candid and affectionate, humanizing women who are more habitually rejected or ignored by society as misfits and victims. Langley's empathetic portrayal moves beyond the dressing room and the peep-show booths out into the real lives of the dancers, visiting them in their homes, talking to their families, listening to their stories and experiences.
