Stevenson and his regiment of New York Volunteers, their families, and supplies to California for service in the Mexican War. The log describes incidents of the voyage and Arthur's interactions with the soldiers, laying in port in Rio de Janeiro, Nov 22-28, and disembarkment from the Thomas H. Perkins and other ships at Yerba Buena (San Francisco), 1847 Mar 6-Apr 30. The ship departed for San Diego and Manila on 1847 May 1. Tipped in is a TLS regarding the logbook, from Thomas P.
