The bulk of the collection consists of letters sent to Gov. Murphy. Topics discussed include banking, the settlement of accounts between Miss. and Ala., the survey of the boundary line between Ala. and Ga., land sales, the move of the state capitol from Cahaba to Tuscaloosa, contested elections, state agricultural development, the Ala. Salt Works, and expenses relating to Gen. Lafayette's 1824 visit to the State.
